2) Phone Interview

We will arrange a 15-minute phone interview to discuss your career goals and reasons for applying.

3) 1st Interview

We will schedule a formal interview with you, which will be conducted by the director, assistant director, and a board member. This interview will last approximately 20-30 minutes and will cover your personal testimony, professional experiences, educational background, reasons for wanting to work with children, and future aspirations. The interview questions and your responses will be documented.

4) Initial in Classroom Observation

You will join the classroom for which you are applying and read a story of your choosing from the classroom's bookshelf. You will be observed by the director, assistant director, and the classroom teachers. Your interactions with the children will be documented. This observation will last approximately 15 minutes.

5) 2nd Interview

You will be invited back for a second interview where the director or assistant director will ask any clarifying questions. You will also have the opportunity to ask any questions you might have. During this interview, we will review the job description for the position you are being offered. If all goes well, you will receive an offer letter and sign off on the offer. Note that the offer is contingent upon successfully completing the remainder of the hiring process.

6) Orientation

You will be scheduled for a 5-day orientation training where you will review our school's policies, complete EEC Essentials 2.0 if you haven't already, and spend time in the classroom shadowing current teachers to learn from their practices.

7) 1st Week’s check in

At the end of your first week, you will have a brief 15-minute check-in with the director and/or assistant director.

7) 2nd Week in classroom Observation

After working in your classroom for two weeks, you will have a scheduled observation. During this time, the director or assistant director will quietly observe your interactions and activities in the classroom for 30 minutes, taking notes on your performance.

8) Observation Meeting

Following the observation, a meeting will be scheduled with the observer to review the observations and establish your first SMART goal. A SMART goal is a clear and specific objective that you can measure and achieve within a set timeframe, helping you stay focused and track your progress effectively. By setting SMART goals, you will not only gain clarity on what needs to be accomplished but also create a habit of reflection and continuous improvement.

9) Monthly Meetings

You will have check-ins with the director or assistant director at 1 month, 2 months, and 3 months into your role. During these meetings, you will discuss your progress, areas where you may need support, and any questions you have. Each month, you will participate in setting a SMART Goal as part of our ongoing commitment to improvement and self-reflection. This regular practice is integral to our teachers' growth and ongoing learning experiences.

10) Final Review

During the 3-month probationary period, you will have regular check-ins with the director and assistant director to discuss your progress and integration into the team. At the end of this period, there will be a final meeting to review your achievements and confirm your commitment as a member of our team. Throughout these 3 months, we encourage you to ask questions and seek guidance as needed to support your success.

During this 3-month probationary period, employment may be terminated for reasons that are not discriminatory if it is determined that the job is not a good fit. At Hilltop, we strive to collaborate with our team members who are willing to work with us to find mutual success.
